Have you ever been to a beautiful wedding with a bad DJ? Sadly, it’s a common message I hear from friends, family, past clients, and other wedding vendors. A great DJ/MC has the ability to control, connect, and communicate with your guests and tie together all of the milestones of the wedding in an organized fashion. If having a great party is one of your ‘wedding goals,’ it’s important for you to find someone who can understand your vision and communicate it to your guests at the reception.
So now that you understand why finding a great DJ is important, you want to know how you find said DJ.
Don’t outsource the entertainment selection process. Meet 3 DJs (at minimum) and get a feel for the services they offer as well as the personality of the DJ who will be performing at your reception. Even if you love the first DJ you meet, interview someone else so you can hire the first DJ with no regrets! Under no circumstances, task your husband-to-be with the job of choosing the DJ on his own. I am a guy, so I can tell you they are going to email a bunch of companies and choose the cheapest option available.
Make sure you’ve hired a reputable business. Any Joe on the corner can put up a website and have client meetings. Check with your planner, reception venue, get past client references and check third party online review such as The Knot and Wedding Wire. During your interviews with potential DJs/MCs there are some questions to ask that any reputable DJ will be able to answer very easily.
· What type of equipment do you bring with your for the event?
· When will you meet with us prior to our event to go over timeline and song selection?
· What happens if you are ill or unable to DJ our wedding? (Note: anyone that will tell you this will never happen is lying to you. Reputable vendors always have a backup plan for situations like this. Many vendors have never missed an event – but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen.)
Lastly, planning your event. Be up front with your DJ about your likes and dislikes – any DJ will want to hear these from you in order to make your reception the best reflection of you. Does your Grandfather LOVE Sinatra – let us know it’s great during dinner and we love tying in special notes like that for you, your family and friends.
There are so many exciting parts about planning your wedding – picking a DJ is just one – but we want your to be able to confidently pick that is going to make it a night not to be forgotten for awesome reasons and not bad!
Glenn Roush is the President, Founder and Head Ginger of LeForce Entertainment. He was a junior in high school the first time he took on the role of a dj at a church event. While at Baylor, he started a DJ company because he kept going to dances with bad dj’s. Now, 7 years after his first wedding, his full-time job is creating memories for people on the best day of their life. Glenn married his wife Jennifer, a cattleman’s daughter. She left Oklahoma to attend Baylor in the ‘big city’ of Waco. Little did she know that she would meet a sweet talking ginger. They were engaged at homecoming and married the next year, and five years later they are still best friends. As co-owner of LeForce, Glenn Roush is one of the preeminent master of ceremonies and wedding dj’s in Dallas. He is creative and adapts his style to your guests or the type of entertainment you want at your reception. Every wedding is unique and entirely customized from the first beat to the last song. Glenn will always treat you with complete respect, and is honored to live out his passion everyday. He is mindful of your unique ideas, vision, expectations and time. “Weddings are a once in a lifetime event. We do not get a do over, so I leave nothing to chance other than how crazy your friends will get on the dance floor”.
