Shoes and Accessory Tid-Bits!

1. Shoes Don’t Stretch: Your shoes should feel good the moment you try them on. Don’t get a heel that is too high than something you normally would wear, remember you are going to wear this pump for at least six hours.

Rule Breakers: You can wear flip flops for a summer beach wedding!

2. Well Heeled: Practice in your pumps; wear your heels a few times around the house before the big day. Scuff up the bottoms too; you don’t want them to be too slick on the bottom. Go outside and swish the balls of your feet around on rough pavement.
3. Buck Tradition: Wedding shoes are not always white satin. Trends are leaning towards metallic. Try strappy pumps or high heeled sandals, especially for the warmer months. This is your moment, wear what you want, your style…your way!

Rule Breakers: Ditch your shoes for the reception after the first dance!

4. Keep it Elegant: Let your personality show through your accessories but in a refined manner. You should keep your style poised and polished with a simple pearl necklace and earrings.
5. Keep It Clean: Over-the-top rhinestones are a ‘fashion don’t”! Don’t let your jewelry overpower your ensemble. If your dress has a lot of intricate details/beading/lace, then opt for simple pieces.
6. Undergarments: Be comfortable. Just like your shoes, wear your undergarments for a test run! Everyone should try and choose pieces that closely match your skin tone, but you have to be comfortable. No panty lines or bra lines; remember to check from behind. Your guests will see your backside for a majority of the ceremony.

Head Pieces: Do a little research on options for your hair and head pieces. You don’t have to have a veil. If your heart is set on a veil then have the veil for the ceremony and then change into a wonderful floral piece for the reception.

My dear friend Kim just had her beautiful wedding; she opted for a fragrant halo of flowers, simple diamond chandelier earrings and a sophisticated lightly beaded 1920’s column dress. She has great taste and allowed each of her bridesmaids to choose their own dress in blush. Fabulous laid back-eloquent style!
